HAP Partner of the Month - February 2010

Securian Foundation
Since 1994, Securian Foundation has been one of HAP’s most loyal and consistent funders. For 15 years, Securian Foundation made an annual financial contribution to HAP’s Peem Tsheej (“Struggle for Success”) youth program. Thanks to the support of Securian Foundation, hundreds of at-risk Hmong teens have received culturally-appropriate mentoring and support services to promote their healthy development and help prevent their involvement in the juvenile justice system.
Due to the high unemployment rates caused by the current economic crisis, HAP approached Securian Foundation in 2009 with a request to support HAP’s Employment Services department. “Economic Independence” is one of Securian Foundation’s funding priorities, and the Foundation expressed their strong commitment to fund what HAP determined to be the area of greatest need. A 2010 grant from Securian Foundation will greatly increase HAP’s ability to respond to the critical, employment-related needs in the community and help more job-seekers become employed.
Headquartered in Saint Paul, Securian provides more than $689 billion in life insurance protection to more than nine million clients and has been consistently recognized as one of the “Best Places to Work,” both locally and nationally. In 2009, Securian Foundation contributed more than $2 million in cash and $1 million in in-kind gifts and volunteer services to arts, education, civic, health and human services organizations. Additionally, Securian associates contributed more than 5,000 hours to Company-sponsored volunteerism, and more than 70 Securian associates serve as board members for nonprofit organizations.
HAP is grateful for Securian Foundation’s long-term commitment and is honored to have Securian Foundation as a partner.
