The Saint Paul Foundation
As
Minnesota’s largest community foundation, The Saint Paul Foundation has made a significant impact on
Saint Paul and the surrounding area since its establishment in 1940. Through charitable contributions and strong philanthropic leadership, The Saint Paul Foundation has demonstrated countless ways of achieving their mission to mobilize resources and be a catalyst to enrich lives and communities.
The Saint Paul Foundation has provided crucial financial support for a number of HAP initiatives over the years, without which we would have been unable to provide the same level and quality of service. From after-school mentoring programs to refugee language classes, financial support from The Saint Paul Foundation has enabled HAP to bring numerous projects to fruition to address some of the most pressing needs of the local community. The Saint Paul Foundation has also provided substantial support to HAP participants through the Community Sharing Fund. Grants of up to $500 from the Community Sharing Fund have helped HAP participants avert crises by contributing to the costs of critical needs, such as rent, car repair, medical expenses, child care, and utilities.
In addition to providing support for direct services, The Saint Paul Foundation recognizes that strong organizational infrastructure and planning are critical components of effective service delivery. In 2008, HAP approached The Saint Paul Foundation with a request to help support the purchase of a new accounting system to address HAP’s increasingly complex budgeting and allocation needs. The Saint Paul Foundation awarded HAP a generous grant of $25,000 to cover a portion of the expense to purchase and implement a new system.
Most recently, the Management Improvement Fund of the Saint Paul Foundation provided a $12,000 grant to help support a Program Evaluation Project in HAP’s Youth & Family Services Department. The grant enabled HAP to hire an evaluation consultant who is currently implementing a project that will greatly enhance the department’s ability to gather and utilize data as part of HAP’s commitment to continuous quality improvement.
The Saint Paul Foundation has a phenomenal track record of leadership and innovation in the philanthropic community, and Foundation support has empowered local nonprofit organizations and public entities to tackle some of the community’s most urgent and challenging needs.
