Hmong Karen(ni) Youth Pride
The HKYP program was designed to help struggling Hmong and Karen/Karenni elementary students with reading skills. We also believe your child should learn more about their cultural heritage, which is why this program is designed to supplement tutoring with cultural enrichening activities. Our program offers one-on-one reading assistance to children from Hmong and Karen/Karenni communities. With culturally sensitive tutors and mentors, we build reading confidence in your child. HKYP is currently available as an in-school and after-school program to students in grades K-5 at specific schools in Saint Paul.
HAP believes part of education involves learning about one’s culture and heritage. The HKYP program supplements its reading assistance with cultural enrichment activities. These creative and dynamic activities are specially designed to educate and inspire cultural pride in young Hmong and Karen/Karenni students.
